RTE 2 hours ago RTE, the largest Irish radio broadcaster in the world, is set to open its first Irish restaurant in the country’s rural west.
RTE said it will be a “new twist on traditional Irish dining” and its first of its kind in the United States.
Its chef, Michael McElroy, said he was excited to open a “fiercely Irish” restaurant, one of the first of many that will open across the country.
“There’s a lot of Irish people in this area who love to come out to get some food and we think that’s something that we’ve all come to know and love,” he said.
“It’s really important that we bring that flavour back to our rural areas.”
Mr McElroys new restaurant will be called The D’Alessandro’s, named after one of his early restaurants in rural King, a small town north of Louisville.
“We’ve had people come up to us and say they were inspired by the D’Angelo’s, they were going to go and find the best Irish food and they just kept coming back,” Mr McEllroy said.
