Rural internet is a term coined by Verizon, who recently launched a new internet service.
Verizon says it will be offering rural internet services for $40 a month, which is about half of the cost of a similar service offered by competitors such as AT&T and Comcast.
The new service will initially be available to anyone living in rural areas.
Verizon said rural internet users will be able to connect to other devices via the same network as their homes and businesses, as well as with smartphones and tablets.
Verizon has said that the service will help connect more people to internet and communications, including remote jobs and health care services.
